Should I Call for Law Enforcement to Perform a Vehicle Lock Out?
If you’re locked out of your vehicle, there are a few things you should consider before calling for law enforcement assistance. First, if you have a roadside assistance plan, you may want to call them first as they may be able to help you without involving the police. Second, if you’re in a public place, you may want to ask a bystander for help before calling the police, as they may be able to assist you more quickly. Finally, if you’re comfortable with doing so, you may want to try and break into your vehicle yourself before involving the police. Keep in mind, however, that depending on your state’s laws, you could be charged with vandalism if you damage your vehicle while trying to break in. So, while calling the police should be a last resort, it may be necessary if you’re unable to gain entry to your vehicle on your own.
